“I met Janice Gagnon-Warr a little over 20 years ago when she delivered a presentation on aromatherapy at UMass Dartmouth, where I was an undergrad and later a grad student. I was impressed not only by her educational background, experience as a registered nurse, and expertise, but the subject of aromatherapy massage as something way beyond pleasant scents usually associated with commercial fragrances. I introduced myself following the lecture, and as the famous phrase goes, that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
For several years I was Janice’s massage therapy client. I knew I was in good hands (literally!), when she listened intently to me and assessed my needs from a physical, emotional, and spiritual standpoint. The result was a holistic experience and treatment. No stranger to energy work (at the time I was a certified in Reiki II; I’ve since graduated to Master-Teacher), I was attuned to Janice’s aromatherapy oils selections and their effects, especially while the session was in progress. Sometimes the healing took place in the form of released emotions; sometimes aches and pains eased. I often left the sessions feeling blissed out.
Janice was a therapist in other ways. At the time, I struggled to get over the loss of a love relationship, and she not only comforted and counseled me, but also intuited that I would meet someone else (she even came up with a name!); shortly after that session, I did indeed meet a man by that name and he did play a significant relationship role for a short time. Many years later, when I finally met the love of my life, Janice, upon seeing a photo of us on Facebook, jubilantly exclaimed, “That’s him!” She knew as well as I did that my “search” was over.
Janice and I lost touch for a short time when I moved away from southeastern Massachusetts, but we reconnected thanks to Facebook. I was so grateful for that reconnection, as I have always enjoyed talking to her about love, healing, spirituality, and creativity. She has never stopped being my cheerleader, nor I hers.
I am returning to the northeast region later this year, and I look forward to the occasional visit to southeastern Massachusetts. My deepest hope is that I will be able to schedule a long overdue aromatherapy massage and catch up with my dear friend. ”
